On July 12, 2016, Professor Wei Mengyu from the Technical College of the University of Macau visited the department of Biology in SUSTech for academic exchanges upon the invitation of associate professor Chen Fangyi of our Department of Biology, and carried out an academic lecture entitled Human Body Communication—The Last Centimeters of Implanted Device Connected to the Body Area Network.

In this lecture, Professor Wei raised a new communication standard—human body communication. Human body communication is a medium with the human body as the communication means by implanting various devices and sensors in the body. It has the advantages of low power consumption, low noise and high security.Professor Wei first introduced the communication standard currently widely used in implantable device communication and pointed out the limitations of these standards. Then he said that his research group raised and validated human body area communication standard after a series of human body model design and experimental data analysis. The professor also introduced other projects being carried out by his laboratory, such as ultrasonic detector and dual-luciferase assays.

Our teachers and classmates listened attentively to the lecture and had heated discussions and communications with Professor Wei. Professor Wei raised his opinions based on his research direction and experiences, and gave us his advice on scientific research.
