报告摘要: Traits are complex. Understanding plant traits in an evolutionary, genetics, and biochemical perspective, is crucial for precision design breeding in major crops. In this talk, I will focus on three fundamental questions in plant and crop sciences, 1. “how evolutionary novelties arose?”; 2. “what genetic variations confer phenotypic change?”, and 3. “why cereals and legumes are so successful (and how can be more successful)?”. The high-performance natural traits in nitrogen use and photosynthesis will be highlighted. I will then share our recent work in two major cereal and legume crops (wheat and pea), to demonstrate it on how important it is to borrow wisdom from evolution and exploit the biodiversity for a transformative step change in crop breeding.
个人简介:程时锋,研究员,博士生导师,国家自然科学基金委“优青”,农科院“农科英才”,广东省“珠江团队”首席科学家,深圳市国家级领军人才A类。团队主要以Plant Trait-based Phylogenomics、Crop Population Quantitative Genetics 为工具,长期从事植物系统发育进化基因组学、麦类豆类作物群体遗传学,致力于打通植物进化生物学与现代作物科学,发掘性状及其遗传多样性开展农业育种。其代表性成果以第一或通讯作者发表在Nature、Science、Cell等杂志,获得多个专利,主持多项国家或省部级项目。
