报告摘要:Photosynthesis is crucial for a sustainable food and energy supply. However, our staple crops primarily harness blue and red light, leaving green light untapped. Diatoms, ocean-dominating algae, efficiently harvest green light, suggesting a potential avenue for complementing crop photosynthesis. We've used genetic approaches to uncover biosynthetic pathways for unique chlorophylls and carotenoids in diatoms, aiming to engineer these into plants. Under stress conditions, like nitrogen deprivation, light-harvesting chlorophylls and carotenoids decrease. We're working on maintaining photosynthesis under such conditions, potentially reducing nitrogen fertilizer costs. A large-scale screen in a model green alga identified mutants displaying altered photosynthetic acclimation under nitrogen deprivation, offering insights into decoupling photosynthesis repression from nitrogen deprivation stress.
个人简介:李小波,2007年本科毕业于西安交通大学,2012年博士毕业于密歇根州立大学,先后在卡内基研究所(2012-2016)与普林斯顿大学(2016-2018)进行博士后研究,2018年7月加入西湖大学生命科学学院任研究员。长期从事藻类代谢与光合作用研究,以通讯(含共同)作者身份在Nature Communications (2024a; 2024b)、Science (2023)、Plant Cell (2023)、PNAS (2022)等期刊上发表论文多篇;研究成果入选了2023年度 “中国海洋与湖沼十大科技进展”;先后入选国家级人才、浙江省杰青、浙江省高校创新领军人才(首批),并主持科技部重点研发项目、基金委原创探索项目等国家级项目。
